Falling behind

The past couple of weeks have been a bit hard. Work hasn't been all that great, I feel like I'm falling behind at home with every day chores and just staying above water. I was really starting to get down on myself about it too, I needed to find that happy medium and I needed to find it fast.

I thought that maybe I was taking on too much at work, maybe I need to cut my hours back, step down to just a barista; I even thought about finding a whole new job. Not being home at night really gets to me. I want to be able to cook dinner, clean the kitchen and relax with The Mr. and because I work retail, being able to do that kind of stuff is really hard. I probably could find a new job but I just started to accumulate paid time off and the medical benefits are really good so really it would be stupid if I found another job.

So I really had to do some deep soul searching and realized I just needed to buck up and do what I have to do. If another job opportunity comes my way that offers all those things but with better hours, I'll take it, but for now, I just have to deal. So, I'm dealing and trying to roll with the punches.

As for home, I realized I can't let work interfere with what I'm doing at home. I'm not saying I do all the work because The Mr. really helps me out around the house but sometimes he does more then I think he should. I'm probably being really sexist here, but I believe that keeping the house clean and tidy is my job, and I don't want to fail at it.

So being a good future house wife, I went to Pinterest and looked up easy and fun ways to keep the house clean throughout the week rather then just spending one whole day cleaning the house. Of course, I found all kinds of ideas that I would love to use, but I'll have to save them for when we have children because a lot of them don't apply to us. But I did find one that I've already printed out and started. It's very easy, very simple and it gets the important stuff done on a daily basis, which was important to me. I've  printed it out and stuck it to the refrigerator!

Finding joy in these little things have been hard the past couple of weeks but I kept telling myself that I'm lucky to have a job and a roof over my head.

New Looks

I changed my look again! I loved my old layout but it was getting much to much for me. Don't worry, I saved it and who knows, maybe someday I'll switch back to it but I was craving something simple and easy on the eye. I got rid of some of my widgets on the side and just cleaned things up a bit. I'm loving it! I wonder how many times I've changed my layout since I started blogging. I'm sure it's like 1487 times.

Anyway, to update on the home front, The Mr. and I got a new bed and I won't lie, it's pretty dang comfortable. The bed that we had before was originally The Mr.'s and he's had it for a long time. Springs were poking out where they really shouldn't be, the bed was bowed out in certain areas and it just really wasn't that comfortable. I can't complain though, I had the better side and The Mr. often slept on the couch because his side was that uncomfortable.

We both really wanted a new bed for awhile now and it really was to the point where we were just fed up with it! Apparently holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day furniture stores have a great deals! The Mr. went into Sleep City one evening when I was at work, fell in love with one of their beds and the next day I went in to try it out. He ended up finding a really good deal online which the sales man agreed to meet and the rest is history!

We had to wait a few weeks for the bed to come in but it's finally here and we love it; even Rambo loves it! Sometimes I find him sprawled out horizontally between us taking up all the room between The Mr. and I. He's so silly!

We got a new bed set (for a stinking great deal, if I might add) and the bed looks beautiful in our room! What do you think?

An Update

I have been slacking big time in the blog world. Since the start of the year, we have been busy and our schedules have been crazier then normal. I think things are finally slowing down and getting back to the norm, or maybe it's just the fact that we can't go anyway because of this crazy weather! Whatever it may be, things are good and life is great!

Since my last post, we found our venue for the wedding and I found my wedding dress! We aren't planning on getting married until 2013, but I couldn't wait to find a dress and when I put this one on, I knew it was the one!  My mom, my sister (Maid of Honor) and one of my bridesmaids went with me last Saturday to try on dresses, we had a great time and they all agreed that the dress I picked was the one! I don't plan on sharing pictures of it or letting people know what it looks like, only because I want to surprise people when I walk down the isle.

I have also started to watch what I'm eating again and I joined a gym. I'm really excited about the new gym; it's an all women's, 24 hour gym. They offer classes which include Zumba (I'm very excited about that!) and have personal trainers. Even though I know my dress fits me right now, I still want to lose some weight so my dress looks amazing on me and I'll feel great on my wedding day.

I am planning on putting some post together of the DIY projects I made as Christmas gifts. I think they turned out great! Those should be up in the next couple of days.

I have the weekend off and I'm looking forward to it! It's always nice to be able to spend time with The Mr., get some work done around the house and more then likely get some good R&R in.

I'll try to be better at posting, but remember, no news is normally good news, right?

Houston, we have a leakage!

I skipped a day of thankfulness, oops. This week has been a long week and I am so ready for a weekend! On Sunday evening, after sleeping the day away, I decided to start a load of laundry. Don't act surprised, it's something I normally do on Sunday's and Monday's, but this time it was different, and not fun.

About 20 minutes after starting the first load of laundry, I walked into our spare bathroom and was surprised to step into a huge puddle of water. The puddle covered the whole bathroom floor (coming out from under the toilet) and the tub was starting to fill up. I automatically called for The Mr. and I automatically knew we had a huge poopie problem!

Because it was Sunday night there wasn't really anything we could do besides soak up the water and hope and pray it didn't leak any more. Monday morning came and we had to get ready for the day, we were hoping that the problem was just a fluke and we wouldn't see any sign of floodage, but we were wrong!

Again, water all over the floor and filling up the tubs. At this point, I was highly annoyed. We couldn't get in touch with our landlord and were kind of at a loss for what do to. We obviously had a "clog," or so we thought, and it needed to get fixed, pronto.

Monday afternoon came and we finally got ahold of the landlord, two plumbers and builder of our unit. They got started on the problem right away and they all thought it was something that was going to be simple and easy to fix....ha! The two plumbers put their skills to work and did everything they could to unclog our mess; only to find out that we had more of sewer problem than we originally thought. One of the main pipes to our sewer had collapsed and we had a major back up!

The rest is history and needless to say we've had some major construction going on around here this week. Showers had to be short, we couldn't run very much water at time, so dishes couldn't be done, and laundry was on a major halt. The past two days they've been working to replace the collapsed pipe and to fix anything else it may have damaged.

I am so glad that we were able to nip the problem in the butt and get it fixed in a timely matter, but more importantly, I'm glad I won't be cleaning water off our bathroom floor anymore!

So today, I am so thankful for properly working sewage and a dry bathroom floor! I am also thankful for The Mr., he had to put up with all my whining and complain during this whole process (and I'm sure there was a lot!).

The House

It's my first vlog! Whoop whoop! It's a video of the layout of my house for my readers who aren't nearby and can't come over and see it for themselves!

Enjoy!

Decorating for Halloween!

Fall is my favorite time of year and I love to decorate for it! Ever since I was little, we would always decorate for Halloween and we would go all out! It was something we did as a family and a lot of the decorations we had for years. I'm sure my mom still has some of those decorations. I asked The Mr. last night if he would get the Halloween box down for me and while he was at work today, Halloween/Fall exploded all over the house. I'm planning on going to Walmart and the Dollar Store over the next couple of days to buy a few more things and then I'll be all set! Happy Fall!

Duplex Pictures for Ivonne!

Please note that this was a post from my previous blog and just transferred it over. I know it is past July and we are already living in the duplex! :-)

The Mr. and I stopped by the duplex this evening and we were able to get some pictures! I'm sure the workers are so tired of seeing us but they are always so nice and always let us walk around and view the progress. They did confirm that it would be done the first part of July! I'm so so excited! Enjoy the pictures!
